Abstract

The overall objective of this research was to understand how strategists learn about traceability procedures and nonconforming products of the organization studied. A qualitative case study was developed at Metalpil, a mechanic metal company located in the metropolitan region of Recife (PE). Data were collected mainly through twelve interviews. The analysis of the data occurred through the construction of categories that answered the research question. It was concluded that strategists learn by experiencing situations in practice, by interacting with more experienced professionals and by reflection. This study contributes to the debates in organizational learning and the perspective of strategy as a practice to present empirical results of the learning of strategists about their work practices.
