CHARACTERIZATION OF THE TEXTILE AND TEXTILE INDUSTRY OF SANTA CATARINA STATE: MAIN ACTORS, PARTNERS AND MARKETED PRODUCTS

Abstract

The Brazilian textile and clothing industry is considered one of the most important industries, being a reference worldwide, however, it has presented several difficulties, in the face of the performance of the national economy and the complexity of the various companies that make up its supply chain. This article characterizes the main companies that make up the textile and clothing supply chain in the state of Santa Catarina, as well as of its business partners and marketed products. Based on a review of the literature on the textile and garment industry and on secondary data obtained from the national databases of the Brazilian Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Brazilian Foreign Trade Secretariat, the supply chain of the textile and clothing industry the size of the companies and the production volumes that allow to estimate the material flows of this industry in the state of Santa Catarina and, more specifically, in the mesoregion of the Vale do Itajaí, thus allowing a better understanding of this chain of production. and its economic importance to the state and country.
